ATITUDE DE MÉDICOS ORTOPEDISTAS BRASILEIROS FRENTE À QUIROPRAXIA

Quiropraxistas e ortopedistas atendem o mesmo público, mas se desconhece a atitude dos ortopedistas brasileiros nas relações interprofissionais com quiropraxistas. Este estudo teve por objetivo analisar a atitude dos ortopedistas brasileiros frente à Quiropraxia. Realizou-se tradução, retrotradução, adaptação transcultural e aplicação de questionário de pesquisa validado, em 461 ortopedistas brasileiros. Destes, 94,6% relataram conhecer a profissão, especialmente pelo feedback de seus pacientes e um percentual similar entre os que tiveram uma experiência própria e estudaram o tema; 73,5% não encaminham pacientes para quiropraxistas, exceto por pedido do paciente. Ter a mídia como fonte de informação diminui a chance de ser favorável à Quiropraxia em 64% e médicos da atenção primária apresentaram aproximadamente 7 vezes maior probabilidade de ser favorável à Quiropraxia em comparação com médicos de clínicas privadas. Mais da metade dos entrevistados concordou que a indicação ao quiropraxista pode representar riscos à sua responsabilidade ético-profissional e que os quiropraxistas empregam um marketing muito agressivo. Em geral, as questões que visavam entendimento sobre a postura dos médicos ortopedistas, teve alto percentual de respostas neutras. A atitude do médico ortopedista se mostrou de resistência e incredulidade. Melhores relações interprofissionais seriam bem-vindas para o cuidado integral dos pacientes com algias musculoesqueléticas.
